VirginTR Andy Haining
Team Season Preview[/u]
Opting for an 'all balls' setup, the VirginTR squad (headed by Andy Haining) are keeping it no big secret that they have the most powerful engine developed so far. At most circuits however there is more required than just having raw speed (such as the ability to control it) and this is partly the explanation for the apparent lack of results in testing. Another explanation could be that time was lost when Walton and Giancarlo were forced to move out of the way to allow the faster cars through. You can be sure though that come an 'all balls' track, VirginTR will be heading the field.
Mid Season Report[/u]
What was originally viewed as a brave decision quickly turned out to be the wrong one as Andy Haining opted to focus on a strong engine. A double DNF in the opening round pretty much saying it all and the performance was sporadic at best. Infact it all got too much and after Spain, it was decided that a shakeup was needed. The reserve driver, Alain Dubois, was drafted in to replace the struggling Emmi Giancarlo and the team immediately moved up a notch with Dubois scoring points on his debut. This spurred Walton on the perform better and he managed to bag some more points. As the season progressed, things improved with a podium in Germany and almost again in Canada. Surely things can only get better from here on.
* Originally Reserve Driver, replaced P.Walton in Austria but promoted after Spain to 2nd Driver status.
