Group 1: Gones, Helkonnen, Lukow, Dubois, Callista, Hawn
- It's raining lightly as the qualifying session starts at Monaco.
- Dubois is holding up Callista severely (see Screenshot1)!
- Helkonnen sets the fastest time and takes provisional pole (see Screenshot2).
Group 2: Cederberg, Opet, Santo, Northcutt, Concini, Walton
- It appears the rain is coming down slightly heavier now.
- No one is able to come close to the Team Lucifer cars.
Group 3: Glaston, Blanc, Mrazik, Bliss, Dimoulakis, Okihara
- The rain has got heavier once again and there is now standing water on the track.
- Because of this the pace has now dropped by a few seconds.
Group 4: Adauto, Heppert, Thiery, Karpstein
- In a superior car, not even a last ditch effort from Heppert could get him into the top 10 (see Screenshot3)!
- The times of Helkonnen and Lukow remain untouched and they claim the first ever front row lock-out in GPM!

Overview[/u]
Monaco is without doubt the most glamourous event of the year (see seperate story). Some people say that winning here feels like ten wins anywhere else, whereas some will argue that trying to drive a high speed racing car round here is like trying to ride a bike round your front room. What everyone does agree on though is that qualifying is the most important aspect of the weekend. Because the track is so narrow and twisty, it is insanely difficult to overtake during the race and This means that to get yourself in with the best chance of a good result, you need to be starting high up the grid. Now imagine throwing some rain into the equation for good measure...and that is exactly what happened today.
Although rain was present at the start it gradually got heavier towards the end, giving the earlier runners a distinct advantage. The team who benefited most was Team Lucifer who claimed the first ever front row monopoly! If the weather was dry then 2Fast2Disney would have undoubtedly been fastest but because their slot wasn't until later in the session, when the rain was heavier, they could only manage 13th and 14th. VirginTR, however, had a rare dose of good luck and had early and will line up in 11th and 12th. This should be interesting come the race as 2Fast2Disney have by far the better car, but how are they going to get past without any good overtaking opportunities?
PharmaOne also benefited from the unsettled weather and claimed the 2nd row, although a full second behind Helkonnen. Team Pingu had good luck too and are unexpected names in the top 10 as they wouldn't normally have had the grip to qualify well. This will surely give the current championship leaders another boost.
So what can we expect for the race on Sunday? Well, with this grid there are bound to be some very intense battles where every fraction of a second will be vital. Pitstops will be likely to decide the positions, with the fastest mechanics giving their drivers the edge. Also expect a few accidents too as there is extremely limited run off space with it being a street circuit...the slightest error from anyone and they will be chewing armco barrier in no time.
