You've probably already heard the news and seen the pictures of Luigi Concini's crash at Imola...The Italian was pulling over to the side of the track because of engine problems but due to the rain and spray, Northcutt failed to see Concini and ploughed straight into the back of him. Concini was sent into the barrier where the car was heavily damaged, losing the front right wheel and damaging the suspension. The car was then sent slipping down the wet track at over 150mph until it eventually reached a standstill. Luigi was lying unconcious in the car and only came two after marshalls had moved his car to the side of the barriers. Fortunately, he was quickly airlifted to the local medical centre where he underwent a full medical examination. The results? Heavy concussion and a fractured rib. The consequences? No racing for at least a month until the injuries heal. What this means to the Whizzbanger team is that Indian reserve driver, Tanvi Qamar, will get his break and stand in for at least the next 3 races until Concini is fully recovered. For those of you who missed the race report, here is the picture of Concini's damaged car with the Italian unconcious, head leaning on the side of the cockpit.
